Rae for LA campaign Launch

This moonshot campaign for LA Mayor had no visual language, no style, no heartbeat until we sat down with staffers and laid out a plan to make it undeniable. If something feels, aesthetically like a 3rd party campaign, people will assume there’s no chance– especially when you’re coming with a far left progressive platform. Everything about the video had to feel unique and real- something you could get behind.

We show that LA already has a lot of the answers to it’s problems. It’s the communities coming together through fires, strikes, and ICE raids– we just need a leader to listen and believe in those solutions and empower local leaders. This video garnered millions of views across social media in addition to being featured on NBC national news and local Spectrum 1 news in LA. I quickly realized forming the visual strategy for a political campaign to be oddly similar to piecing together a roll out for a musician– except the stakes are higher, and the purpose more meaningful.

When ICE was murdering people in Minneapolis, cities across the country joined a General Strike in solidarity to say ICE OUT. Hasan Piker, the biggest streamer in progressive politics in the US, invited Rae to join him at this demonstration to speak about her platform and what specifically we could be doing at a local level.
