I got statistics from Spotify in 2015 that told me I listened to 56.5 days of music that year. The year after, I tried to top that. I listened to 82 days of music; 1,968 hours.

I knew that this natural proclivity to devour music constantly could fuse with my experience gained directing short films and make for truly unique music videos. What I did not expect was that my taste would bring me toward niche artists pushing their genres forward, that these artists whose songs I sung in the car actually didn’t have all of the resources they needed to create fresh, forward-thinking visual representations of their songs.

It makes me wonder if those 1,968 hours, wherever I was listening, were training my ear– the A&R that would bring amazing musicians, great collaborations, and strong friendships into my life.
